It was japanese made(the word "professional" at the top specifies that, and devalues it greatly for used purchase). It has 24 frets, volume/tone contros. It has two single coil pickups and a powerful humbucker for a heavy meatal sound. Its got a maple neck and it has a very distinctive "heavy metal" shape. It has a transparent finish and shines metalically. I really hate the Floyd Rose cause it gives me a hard time tring to tune it. The neck is thin and easy to play. The frets are embeded into the neck a millimeter or so. I bought it used with a hard shell case.

As an overall/all-around rock guitar, I couldn't ask for much more. Great feel, balance, sounds, and looks. If I could only have one electric guitar -- and I currently have 6 including a Les Paul and a custom Strat -- this may well be it. Think of the best features of a Tele (twang and durability), PRS (playability and clarity), and Les Paul (resonance, mids and crunch) wrapped into one. If you come across one, buy it.

This oddball Jackson hardtail was made in the mid-late 90s in Japan. It's got a Jackson/PRS style neck, wide-thin maple with a rosewood board, no binding, 24 jumbo frets, mini Schaller or Gotoh 3+3 tuners on a Gibson/PRS type headstock. The body is sort of an offset Tele-Les Paul-Jazzmaster mutation, very similar to the current Jackson Surfcaster but solid. About the thickness of a Tele, with a slightly scooped neck joint. Pickups are an Armstrong lipstick (probably SLV1CR) at the neck, not offset, and a Duncan-type (probably HB103B) at the bridge. Has a very, very nice wrap-around bridge tailpiece which locks in place and is adjustable for intonation as well as height. One volume and one tone control, chrome knobs; one Strat type 3-way selector. The finish is a matte silver/grey with a matte black pickguard. Basically a solidbody SC1.

More Jackson Axes

Obviously made in USA, 22 fret maple neck (body-thru as well). The controls that came with the guitar were 1 volume and two tone knobs, but i had it placed with EMGs and the controls were then 2 volumes and 1 tone knobs, hey who uses the thing anyway? Came with two Seymour Duncans: SH-2 in the neck, and TB-4 in the bridge. Poplar body.

Overall this is a killer guitar. Strictly metal, really good for the old school thrash I play (ie Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, Pantera). Ive always loved the aggressive look of it and its powerful bright sounds, but i wish it had more low end. Its tough to get any low end, even with pickups like the DiMarzio Tone Zone, but i can definetly settle for its awesome lead tone. It takes a while to get used to playin on this body style because it doesnt contour like the Les Paul and the neck is really slick and kinda wide which is good, but it took me a while to get used to it. Other than that, no complaints.

This is the 1997 year model made in Japan. A 22 fret rosewood neck. Solidtop.I think it has passive jackson j-90 (stock pickup).

Want to get a cheap but nice model from Agile Guitars as well.

I Love This New Jackson Guitar

I've been playin for 3 years now. i own a Stage Stratocaster, refitted with a Lace Sensor Gold in the bridge position. I play through a Vox V-847 wah-wah pedal, and a DOD Corrosion distortion pedal. then it goes into my Treynor GT30\TR amp, with a new 10" 50W Celestion speaker. The main competition when buying this guitar was the BC Rich NJ-Warlock, and the Ibanez JS100.

Mine is a Korean-made 24-fret sucker, I think made in 1998. It's got the standard 1 volume and 1 tone knobs, 5-way selector, SSH pickup config, all passive. I think they're stock Jackson pickups, but a friend commented that they really sound like Seymore Duncans (albeit with the jackson logo on them; sometimes they do that, or so I'm told). Finished with a goddamn beautiful translucent red. Shaped similar to a strat, but with deeper contours maybe. Has a Floyd Rose, which has worked better than most others I've played, in terms of staying in tune and string breakage and other such matters. This thing has an amazing neck--by far the thinnest and easiest to play I've seen (to my style of playing, anyway). Didn't come with a case or bag, but the store gave me a hardshell case with a *substantial* discount because it was designed for some peavey strat-clone, but fit perfectly.

This thing is loaded. It is a full metal guitar, like randy rhoads-era axe. It comes with 24 jumbo frets (i love big frets) a bridge and neck humbucker, and a single coil in the middle. It has a floyd rose system on it, and has a very comfortable strat style body. I have the standparent red color, which i love becuase it is pretty, but subtle. You can't see the wood really well under there, so it it would be a guitar i would perform at church with (as opposed to a bc-rich he he) It has a heavy les paul feel to it, which is another plus in my book. there is a 5 way selector switch, it has all the combinations except for the two humbuckers at once. I would like it if i could select that setting. there is one tone and one volume pot.

My New Jackson Guitar

Made in Japan but I don't know the year. It is a solid poplar body guitar with a 25.5" scale bolt-on maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. You have to see the body shape and the angled headstock... it's beautiful. Comes in black and midnight blue sparkle. I bought the blue and it's a killer with its matching headstock. The fretboard has mother of pearl crop circles inlays that are awesome. It has one Duncan designed humbucker near the bridge, black tune-o-matic bridge and strings through body with black string ferrules and a volume pot. The headstock is angled with 3x3 non-locking tuners. The nut is black plastic... bummer. You have to see its picture on the Jackson site... www.jacksonguitars.com. They show the black but believe me the blue looks soo much better. Wait, wait it comes with its custom case. Now you can't beat that.

Well.. I don't exactly play heavy metal but I play hardcore punk and industrial which call for this type of guitar. Now, I've found it so versatile I use it for everything. I'm a distortion, power chord, palm muting freak and this guitar delivers. The neck is very smooth and fast. I use a Peavey ultra 112 combo and an Ultra head. They like this guitar. It sounds very balanced. Palm muting has chunk and solos just sing with very good highs. I really like it.
